This project pursues the implementation and validation on a real scale of 100% renewable hybrid electricity generation and storage technology.

The project consists of the development of the necessary technology to implement storage systems based on a double hybridization between Li-Ion batteries and ultracapacitors and the complementary renewable generation parks themselves, which in the case of this project are: the experimental wind farm de Barasoain and the Montes del Cierzo experimental photovoltaic plant, both in Navarra and owned by Acciona.

Both systems will include control technology based on Grid Forming and HESStec control algorithms thanks to InMS®, which will allow storage technology to be fully coordinated with generation and achieve a robust contribution to the grid, improving quality, efficiency and supply. of electrical energy.

Plant characteristics

Barasoain Plant:

  • 15 MW wind generation plant.
  • Hybrid storage system:
    • High energy density lithium-ion battery: 0.73 MW @ 0.73 MWh.
    • High power density lithium-ion battery: 1.57 MW @ 0.39 MWh.
    • Ultracapacitor system: 1.25 MW @ 31 MWs.

Montes del Cierzo Plant:

  • xx MW PV generation plant
  • Hybrid storage system:
    • Lithium-ion battery: 1 MW @ 0.56 MWh.
    • Ultracapacitor system: 0.27 MW @ 31 MWs.
