Objetives

  • Viability and cost effectiveness: of the use and integration of novel Hybrid Electric Energy Storage (HEES) system coupled with innovative microgrid system local RES generation and loads.
  • Technical optimization: of the HEES system in 3 use case applications covering energy services in island grids, energy services in private grids, and EV charging stations in e-mobility.
  • Optimization and integration: by utilizing a suite of technologies, tools, and methods for easy application and massive deployment.
  • Validation: through the demonstration of 3 use case applications in 3 different pilot sites, leveraging knowledge, key exploitable results, and market-oriented dissemination for wide adoption of the technologies and approach.

The project

The HYBRIS project, financed by the EU and part of the “Hybridisation of battery systems for stationary energy storage H2020-LC-BAT-9” call, of the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Framework Programme, aims to optimise systems as highly efficient, economic and sustainable hybrid solutions in micro-network applications.

It presents a fully systematic, collaborative and integrated approach to the development and deployment of an innovative battery-based hybrid storage system, combining diverse and complementary state-of-the-art TRL 5-6 technology assets from leading industry, universities and OTRs, as well as ICT tools for viable and cost-effective optimization and further market introduction.

All this by demonstrating and validating its concepts in 3 use case applications in 3 pilot sites in 3 countries (Italy, Belgium and The Netherlands).

The consortium is formed by 15 European partners, including IDP (leader), LOMARTOV, IREC, COMET GESINCO, or HESStec. This project has received funding from the European Union’s H2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement number 963652.
