Progressus project

The PROGRESSUS project is a European project belonging to the ECSEL Joint Undertaking program. It is led by Infineon and consists of 22 European companies grouped by countries. The Spanish consortium is formed by Iquadrat, CTTC, and Leitat.

Objetives

  • Reduce greenhouse gas emissions related to mobility and grid power generation by at least 30% compared to current facilities.
  • Reduce maximum grid energy consumption by 30%.
  • Increase the efficiency of network components to enable and support the widespread adoption of electromobility.
  • Design and develop technologies and methodologies to achieve the aforementioned objectives.
  • Implement use cases that combine the achievements of PROGRESSUS to validate the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Demonstrate the reduction in peak power consumption from the grid compared to the current state.
  • Provide solutions to essential technical challenges for the energy market infrastructure.
  • Drive radical changes in power conversion components and technologies.
    Implement essential changes in energy management procedures for both large-scale grids and microgrids.
  • Bring about pervasive changes in security technologies and metering infrastructures for smart grids.

The project

The PROGRESSUS project focuses on addressing three essential technical challenges for the energy market infrastructure. These challenges will guide and motivate the research conducted by the PROGRESSUS partners:

  • Challenge 1: Power Conversion, referring to radical changes in power conversion components and technologies.
  • Challenge 2: Energy Management, referring to essential changes in energy management procedures for both large-scale grids and microgrids.
  • Challenge 3: Metrology & Monitoring, referring to pervasive changes in security technologies and metering infrastructures for smart grids.

Within this challenging framework, PROGRESSUS aims to design, implement, trial, and evaluate novel technologies and solutions to address the aforementioned challenges. Given the importance of validating and confirming the proposed solutions, the following objectives related to the design, development, and demonstration of PROGRESSUS solutions are presented.
