Project that is part of the INERTIA+ solution. The objective of the project is the integration of a system with high power density and ultra-fast response.

The project

  • This project is part of the INERTIA+ solution designed by HESStec. The proposed solution was designed to meet the technical requirements of RTL, defined by the power profiles.
  • The objective of the project is the integration of a high power density and ultra-fast response system (5MW of power at the headend, 38.88 MJ of energy in ultracapacitors) to ensure the stability of the transportation network in the event of network instabilities (generation and demand mismatch or high penetration of renewables), through the provision of frequency regulation or rapid response to frequency services, among others.
  • El sistema también tiene que ser compatible para trabajar con los sistemas de conversión de energía definidos por el proveedor del sistema de electrónica de potencia, en términos de rango de tensión de CC, potencia y comunicaciones. Este análisis de requisitos ha sido realizado por los equipos conjuntos de SECH y HESStec, gracias a sus conocimientos de UCAPS y a al know-how en materia de integración.
  • In this project HESStec has been in charge of carrying out the integration of the system based on ultracapacitors (UCAPS STACKS), the ultracapacitor control platform (UCMS), the InMS™ management system, together with the necessary software and hardware.
